Bath yourself in sound at a “Soundbath”

Come and experience the extraordinary phenomenon of structured sound waves reverberating through your body. You might have “felt” sound from loud speakers at a rock concert… well what we’re talking about here could be described as everything from extremely pleasurable to scientifically proven to be therapeutic.

Back in 2005 a study was conducted in patients preparing for general anaesthesia for day surgery and the particular binaural beats from a soundbath was shown to ease anxiety. The right and left ears actually hear different tones which mean a lot is going on in your mind!

Tom Schache is a soundbath practitioner and will explain the process before leading us through the experience. He will play huge gongs, crystal singing bowls, and other percussion instruments.

His aim will be to take you to the “Theta” state of your mind. This is halfway between awake and asleep. This is when many good ideas, and revelations generally take place. It’s been scientifically shown that at this stage the body resets itself, hormones are stabilised, the body destresses and creativity is boosted.

As Tom plays, the volume will range from soft to loud, and be generally slow, ethereal sounds to bring everyone to the desired state.

After the soundbath you may report having a wide variety of experiences. Perhaps strong dreams or visions or simply say “Wow”. You may see lots of colours, have revelations of what to do next in a project, you may have significant words repeating in your mind, you may receive confirmations, may experience floating, you may find your mind has quietened and cleared or you may fall asleep. The body may need sleep, and then that’s good, however more benefits may be gained if you stay awake during the experience.

A soundbath is great for:

  • destressing
  • quietening the chatter in your brain to help you think more clearly
  • improving mental health
  • maximising your potential
  • relieving your breathing (through destressing and relaxing)
  • improving your gut (through the balancing of hormones)
  • better decision making

We will have chairs but if you’d rather lay down on a yoga mat or other soft mat and a cushion you are welcome to bring that yourself.
